Xmas Fairs Fare Well

Two schools were kind enough to ask us to join them for their Christmas fairs, over the past couple of weekends.

Last weekend, we enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of Smallwood Manor Preparatory School, located in (very) leafy Staffordshire not far from Uttoxeter. The Friends of Smallwood group had organised their Christmas Fair to be held amongst the schoolrooms of this grand manor house and - handily - had allocated us a table right next to Santa in his grotto! It was lovely to be able to introduce our flavours to loads of people who had not had the opportunity before. We didn't have to bring many slices home with us at the end, at any rate!

This weekend, we were invited to make a return visit to Hilton Primary School (having enjoyed so much their Summer Fayre back in June) to participate in their Christmas Fayre. Once again, the gods of table placement smiled upon your favourite gourmet brownie company and we again were positioned right next to Santa in another one of his grottos! Grotto? Grotti? Hmm. Anyway... There's definitely something to be said about a semi-captive audience. As ever, the pleasure of seeing people take their first ever bite of Atomic, or their joy upon going first for Pure and THEN to Connoisseur and seeing the difference that extra 10% of cocoa solids does... makes it all worthwhile. And, to ice the cake of christmas success: by 3.30pm we had completely sold out of all of our brownies and blondies! Luckily there were still loads of samples to tempt people with and our postal service to demonstrate.

On both occasions, the fee taken for our table went straight into the coffers of the respective PTA of the school, so it's doubly nice to be giving a little back as well as enjoying the opportunity to promote our precious wares.

Let's see what the new year brings - plenty of mouths out there yet to fill with chocolatey goodness.
