Fun (not) in the sun!

While you lot were all luxuriating and basking in the warmth of the bank holiday sun, some of us were tied (not literally) to our lab benches, discovering new and ever tastier treats in the brownie universe.

It wasn't like Management were actually going to let us enjoy a public holiday, was it? Anyhoo. There are a few flavours we'd like to mention, bubbling away in various retorts and alembics (not actually, but the mental imagery is quite pleasing, non?), which are heading along quite nicely, thank you:

 

"Cristal" - should be ready during May 2013. An 80% dark chocolate brownie studded with bits of crystallised stem ginger. Not "spicy" spicy - which it was the one time we put grated root ginger into a batch! - but a warm, suffusing kind of gingeriness that should please those of you who like a bit of fire amongst the richness of an ultra-dark chocolate.

"Rudy" - a tutti-frutti blondie, made squidgy with a dash of pineapple juice in the batter and then made stickily sweet by the inclusion of a tropical fruits jelly. There's pineapple, mango, melon and banana in there, to name a few. Initial reactions have been very promising amongst our test subjects, but it still needs a little work to make sure you can instantly be transported to the tropics by the flavours in each bite. It's a bit banana-y right now!

A last minute attempt at adding cola flavour to our 70% dark chocolate range has yielded some surprising results and pleasingly enthusiastic reactions from our sampling first responders. More breaking cola news when we have it!
